What to do if:

You find an injured bird

It is difficult for an injured animal to defend against it natural predators, or to feed : at the term it will die

To save it, first be sure that the animal is really injured : it is maybe waiting for its dam or like the partridge or the duck, imitating aan injured animal to keep a predator far from its nest. Don't intervene if you are not sure.

First, you have ta catch the animal without hurting it : near it slowly in order not to panic it. Use a blanket or a jacket to immobilize it and not to be injured.

Avoid doing brusque gestures, crying out, prevent the dog from barking or children f'rom making noise...

Be careful that it does not hurt you with its beak or its feet, take care of your eyes.

Try to maintain the animal in the obscurity, in a cardboard packing with holes to make easier the aeration. Never try to give it water

Show the animal to a specialist or to a passionate volunteer that will tell you what to do : police station, gamekeeper, vet,ecologist...

You find a ringed bird

For birds, note all useful information :

Place, hour, date, circumstances of the discovery, state of the animal, behaviour n° of the ring...

Send all information to the Hunting federation of the department or to the Centre de Recherche sur la Biologie des Populations des Oiseaux
